Ambiguous Roadworks Signage

This was seen on 7 July 26, but something should be learnt from this: Road signs indicated "road ahead closed", on Shaftsbury Ave, southbound near 7 dials. Yet, the road ahead was never closed, leading to more traffic by confused drivers. Such a lack of clarity is not at a very good standard. Signs should have clearly indicated that the road to the left (7 Dials itself) was closed but the road ahead was not.
