I am writing to formally raise a serious health and safety complaint regarding construction works taking place at Belsize Square, under the jurisdiction of Camden Council.
The works are being carried out by Parkview Development Group Ltd at St Peter’s Church.
The contractor placed large, heavy metal plates on the paved area and left them unsecured and uncovered. On 12/02/2026 at approximately 7:50pm, the sharp exposed edge of one of these plates struck my vehicle tyre, causing it to burst and resulting in damage to the alloy wheel.
This situation presents a serious public safety hazard. The unsecured metal plates pose a clear risk of severe injury to pedestrians, cyclists, and particularly children. Someone could easily slip, fall, or suffer life-threatening injuries due to this negligence.
Despite reporting the matter directly to the company and providing evidence of the tyre and wheel damage along with repair costs, they have failed to:
Assist with my claim Provide their insurance details Accept responsibility Adequately secure the site in a timely manner
I understand that construction sites must comply with strict safety regulations. I therefore request that Camden Council:
Investigate this matter urgently. Require the company to provide a valid public liability insurance certificate. Ensure the site is fully secured in accordance with health and safety guidelines. Consider appropriate enforcement action, including penalties if breaches are found. Confirm whether the council was aware of these unsafe conditions.
As a taxpayer, I also expect the Council to ensure proper oversight once planning permission or construction approval has been granted. Public safety must remain the priority.
Please confirm receipt of this complaint and inform me of the next steps.

Yours faithfully,
Muhammad Ahmed
