Hello,
I would like you to do something about the zebra crossing at West End Lane, just north of the junction with Quex Road.
There is a speed bump there which causes damage to vehicles because it is too high and uneven. As you can see from the photo, it has essentially collapsed in the middle. This means that you have to drive over it in 1st gear with the clutch down and crawl over at 2 or 3 mph, despite there being a 20mph speed limit.
Whilst I am not at all opposed to speed bumps, this one in particular is very problematic as it causes damage to vehicles due to the height of it and the fact it is uneven. It is also very hard to see in the dark and I am worried it will cause an accident.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate, reduce the height of the bump so that it can be travelled over in 2nd gear say, and reduce the unevenness of it and install some lights or reflectors.
Otherwise unfortunately, what things like this do is encourage people to drive even bigger cars in London that cause more pollution and take up more space. I drive a small car but bumps like this are a much bigger irritation for small car owners than for larger cars and SUVs that can drive straight over them. I agree with trying to put smaller cars on the roads for environmental reasons and space but you need to ensure it doesn’t become a pain for people to drive smaller cars in London.
Thank you.
