I saw at least 2 maybe more young trees on Lambs Conduit st with shocking infestation of what might be Wooly aphid. I've dealt myself with this using the successful method of upturned plastic pots stuffed with straw, to attract earwigs to nest in the pots, they then completely eradicate the wooly aphids. It looks like same infestation to me. Not sure. But trees are in a very bad way. How could they get like this - clearly not monitored. Close by about 3rd tree from this I think is dead. Please treat if possible. If trees are beyond rescue I hope having neglected these (once lovely) trees they will be replaced. But I pray they can be saved. Please do consider the traditional straw pots option (if it is wooly aphid) as recommended by Dave Goulson a well known ecologist. Since hanging on my apple tree - zero wooly aphids. Can the trees also be given extra water given they're now very poorly? Thank you
