Outside the entire length of 194 Goldhurst Terace boundary with the pavement

Reported via desktop in the Low/overhanging branches category anonymously at 13:13, Monday 2 June 2025

Sent to Camden Borough Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 7650624.

Cannot walk on pavement / pavement is blocked - on stretch of about 30 metres of Goldhurst Terrace outside No. 194 Goldhurst Tce, NW6 3HN. This due to extremely low overhanging branches of some 19 very large lime trees. These trees are just inside the garden of a house that was until August 2023 owned by Camden, following which it was sold to a company '194 Goldhurst Terrace (Cowell) Ltd'. At the time it was sold by Camden the trees were already massively overhanging the pavement and also the road, even making parking difficult. In the following 21 months since the sale by Camden, the problem has got steadily worse. The branches are as low as 1m over the pavement and occupy at least 3/4 of its width, so it means that people are totally prevented from walking on the public pavement. They have to either walk on the road to get past, which is dangerous. Or cross the road and walk on other side of road. This issue has been present for at least 3 years and is getting worse as the tree branches grow longer and increase the blockage. There are some 19 lime trees and they also drop a huge amount of sticky 'honeydew' sap which make s a complete mess of any cars parked under them on the road. Most people therefore don't park there if possible and this sterilises at least 6 scarce residents parking bays. Please could the council urgently have the trees cut back, so that the public pavement and residents parking spaces can again be used. Thank you.

This continued negligence of their property by the new owners (following on from years of managed decline by Camden themselves!) does not bode well for the large development planned by the new owner. One hopes that eventual Construction Management Plan will ensure that the pavement remains fully usable during the planned major building work.

  • I would like to upload 4 photos that clearly show the extent of the negligence of the property owner (Camden until Aug 2023, and 194 Goldhurst Tce (Cowell) Ltd since then) towards the 19 lime trees that are now blocking the public footway and even overhanging the kerb here. Unfortunately the system won't accept the uploads. (Cloudflare problem?). Please contact me if you wish to see the photos and I will send them. Camden must now serve an urgent enforcement action on the owner, and if that does not yield urgent action, then Camden need to arrange for substantial reduction of the trees and invoice the owner for the major work. This does no bode well for the developers public responsibilities as they seek to massively overdevelop the site.
