Temporary traffic lights

Reported via desktop in the Temporary Traffic Lights category anonymously at 09:58, Mon 19 May 2025

Sent to Camden Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7588070.

Temporary 4-way controlled lights on Heath Street leading to N End Way opposite Jack Straw's Castle (NW3 7ES) - absolute chaos this morning. Lights not filtered correctly so very few cars let through. No advance warning. No one working there so no apparent reason for erecting lights in rush hour. Children doing GCSEs and A-levels all late for exams because no cars or buses can get through.

Updates

  • The temporary traffic lights at the junction of Heath Street, Spaniards Way and North End Road are causing a dangerous situation for pedestrians as well as a build up of traffic. There has been no operatives on site for the last two days! This is a three way junction that causes a back up past the junction with East Heath Road. It is not fair or safe to allow utility companies to cause such traffic chaos and not work during that period. Buses aren't stopping at the bus stop, pedestrians can't cross as vehicles are blocking all the junctions and school children with public exams are badly affected. Please be careful when you allow utility companies to restrict vital junctions like this. They do not have proper signage as you can see from the photo. There is an old work sign which is showing a completion date of 9th May. Badly done Highways Team.

  • Thank you for your complaint. These were Emergency Thames Water works which means they were already on site when they submitted their permit application to the Council. We had several issues with this site which were escalated. We apologise for any inconvenience - Kind regards Streetworks Team.

State changed to: No further action
