Pavement edge at traffic lights outside Taplow Tower opp. rear of Marriott Hotel Adelaide Rd.

Reported via desktop in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 05:58, Friday 9 May 2025

Sent to Camden Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7543091.

Since Clancy Contractors have been on-site since April (previous contractors were there months till Dec 2024) the temporary traffic lights are making vehicles wait too long, (2.5 mins) and the time they have to get through the lights is too short (26 secs)which causes vehicles, esp. large lorries to speed up cross the 4-way intersection, from the lights outside the Visage building opp. UCL Academy. They take a diagonal sweeping race across the road toward Taplow Tower, then a straight turn onto the Adelaide Rd. However, they drive onto the edge of the pavement at the traffic lights outside Taplow Tower and have been seen to brake the edge of the pavement with their persistent and heavy loads. The road surface and pavement are now cracked and the pavement edge is rocking and deteriorating at an alarming rate. The worry is that large vehicles will turn over, crash onto the fence at Taplow Tower and kill someone waiting at the lights, on the pavement in their effort to make a harsh turn racing to avoid the lights turning against them again, as they speed diagonally across the road from the traffic lights outside the Visage building opp. UCL Academy to the Taplow Tower side and drive their heavy load over the pavement as they turn their heavy loads to straighten up to turn onto the Adelaide Rd.
