Outside No 64 Highgate Road NW5

Reported via desktop in the Street Furniture category anonymously at 19:14, Mon 14 October 2024

Sent to Camden Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6614778.

A concrete road marker for the bicycle bay projects beyond the bay 70 cm into the street. It is unmarked, a dangerous obstacle, and impossible to see at night. Our car hit it at 7 pm on Monday October 8th. It tore the front left tyre off the wheel and has damaged the steering system which is likely to cost thousands of £ to repair . This is bad enough for us, but it would be very easy for a cyclist or motorcyclist to hit the protruding obstruction at speed and have a serious accident, possibly involving any pedestrians on the pavement. It is incomprehensible how this concrete marker could have been allowed to project into the street . Please note that while there are broken white lines around half of the cycle bay containing the docking station for e bikes. there are NO broken white lines around the cycle locking racks on the next half of the cycle bay to warn mortorists/cyclists of its presence.
