Reported via desktop in the Dead/Diseased tree category anonymously at 18:58, Mon 14 October 2024

Sent to Camden Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6614717.

Hello,

I wrote to you in January this year when you had authorised some tree work in Bartholomew road. I received a reply back from the current tree officer and he was very helpful. However, one of the trees that was ruthlessly cut has all but died,[ I attach a photograph of its present state] I was horrified that the tree surgeons touched it at all. This birch was young and looking perfectly fine and was not blocking anyones light or view, sadly now it is just an eyesore. Please can you make sure that the tree surgeons you employ know what they are doing and have some knowledge and intelligence when they carry out work.

Perhaps you can get the tree removed and a replacement planted?

I live at number 31 Bartholomew road.

Thank you kind regards

Lynne Acred

  • Dear Lynne,

Thank you for your enquiry. Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

The Birch tree outside 51 Bartholomew Road is on a 2 year pollarding programme and inspected every 3 years as part of our Highways programme maintenance. This tree has received pollarding works since 2013/14.

I have reviewed the tree and agree compared to previous years pollarding the tree does not look the best. However, it is not dead and I will review the health of the tree as we go into the spring.

If the tree does fail/die we will follow up accordingly with removal and replanting. The contractor has been informed about the standard of work in this case.

    Kind regards
