Dangerous zebra crossing with lack of clear signage

Reported via desktop in the Missing Road Sign category anonymously at 17:40, Tue 16 July 2024

Sent to Camden Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6237650.

The zebra crossing on the right-hand fork if you are coming up Leighton Rd onto Brecknock Rd is dangerous due to being on a corner with limited visibility. Cars speed up Leighton Rd and do not always see pedestrians crossing from the parade of shops on Brecknock Rd. There was almost a serious accident this afternoon when I was going across the zebra crossing with my two young children and a car coming up Leighton Rd only just stopped in time. This is not the first time this has happened, and I think there needs to be clear signage for cars on Leighton Rd that pedestrians are crossing there. Cars also frequently break the speed limit on the stretch of road between Torriano Ave and Leighton Rd and I think measures are urgently needed to reduce speed and encourage more responsible driving. A lot of families with young children live on Leighton Rd and surrounding streets and it is the main route that may local families use when walking to Torriano Primary School.
