Roadway traffic bump between nos. 36 and 34
Reported via mobile in the Road Defect category anonymously at 16:00, Thu 13 June 2024
Sent to Camden Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6104657.
The traffic bump outside our house causes the whole house to shake whenever a lorry goes over it, whether the lorry is loaded or not. Our house is listed Grade 2, so there is a limit to what we can do to protect the structure of the building. We also believe the Council has a responsibility to avoid unnnecessary damage to listed buildings. Given (1) the road speed limit is now reduced to 20mph (it was 30mph when it was thought necessary to instal the speed bump), (2) the speed limit is well signposted in close proximity to the bump, from either direction, (3) the large amount of construction activity in the area, and (4) the likelihood this will level of construction work will be the norm for the foreseeable future, please can the Council remove or re-site the traffic bump. We believe it is no longer necessary for the bump to remian in place as a device to manage traffic speed, it causes increased pollution and noise because vehicles need to slow down and speed up solely to negotiate the bump, it has no other useful purpose, and is causing daily damage to our home, and probably to other houses in its immediate proximity

The frequent heavy lorry traffic in front of our house (no.36) when driving over the speed bump is not only extremely noisy but it cause our house to vibrate with potential cracking or serious damage. We fully support the request for the speed bump to be removed

This applies to all of Queens Grove. It was a quiet street, with construction vehicles on two major sites the bumps disturb our sleep and are causing mental aggravation and harm. with a 20 mph speed limit and damage to cars, what is the point of having them.
