I am reporting to express my growing concern regarding the safety of cyclists, particularly in the context of the cycle lane situated on Regent's Park Rd, between Bridge Approach & Haverstock Hill.
The ongoing issue of large lorries parking within the cycle lane or partially on the pavement poses a serious threat to cyclists and pedestrians. This selfish behaviour forces riders to manoeuvre around these obstructions in to oncoming traffic, creating a hazardous situation, especially on the fast descent in the area.
To address this imminent safety risk, I strongly advocate for the swift installation of cycle lane bollards along the cycle lane, similar to those on Chalk Farm Rd. These bollards would act as a deterrent, preventing vehicles from encroaching onto the designated cycling space and ensuring the safe passage of cyclists.
Not only would the installation of bollards enhance the safety of the cycle lane, but it would also serve as a proactive measure to discourage inconsiderate parking. The well-being of cyclists should be of utmost importance, and I believe that this intervention will significantly contribute to fostering a safer and more accommodating environment.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and commitment to the safety of our community. Thank you.
