Corner of Maida Vale and Greville Place

Reported via desktop in the Missing Road Sign category anonymously at 12:01, Wed 20 September 2023

Sent to Camden Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5013429.

I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing concern regarding the removal of a road sign that has had a significant impact on the safety of our community.

The road sign in question was specifically placed on the corner of Maida Vale and Greville Place to inform heavy goods vehicles not to enter Greville Place. However, this sign was recently removed, and the consequences have been alarming. A large number of heavy lorries have since begun to use Greville Place as a shortcut or rat run. This situation is extremely hazardous for several reasons.

First and foremost, there is a weak bridge on this road that poses a serious risk under the weight and pressure of heavy vehicles. The continued use of Greville Place by these lorries increases the likelihood of the bridge buckling under the strain, which could result in a catastrophic incident. Additionally, Greville Place is a relatively narrow road, and it simply cannot accommodate the passage of such heavy vehicles safely.

I urge you to give this matter your urgent attention and take immediate action to reinstate the road sign that prohibits heavy goods vehicles from entering Greville Place. Doing so is essential to prevent a potential tragedy and to ensure the safety of all residents and road users in the area.

Your prompt response and action on this matter would be greatly appreciated, as it would contribute to the well-being and security of our community. If there are any additional steps or information required from my end to facilitate this process, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious issue.

Sincerely, M. Mann
